My 5 Favorite Animals

     I am going to write about my 5 favorite animals.


5.Grand Cayman Blue Iguanas
     The Grand Cayman iguana is one of the rarest animals on earth!  There are just 440 adults left.  In 1940 the iguana was extinct.  In 2002, scientists discovered just 12!  They are very large for iguanas.  They are seen around 1.5 meters long! 
 4. Black Panther
      The Black Panther or Black Jaguar can run up to 37 mph.  They only live to be around 12-15 years old.  They eat deer and wild boar.  Their predators are lions and hyenas.  They weigh 79-350 lbs.  



  3.Peregrine Falcon
     The Peregrine Falcon is the fastest animal in the world.  It can reach speeds up to 242 mph.  Its wingspan is 29" to 48".  
It eats pigeons.  

2. Komodo Dragons
    Komodo Dragons are the largest lizards in the world.  The first Komodo Dragan was found in 1910.  They weigh at least 154 pounds.  They are 10.3 feet long.  They travel around 13 mph.  They eat deer, goat, boars and even buffalo!  They can go months without eating anything.  They have very poisonous venom.  They can also swim.  

1.Wandering Albatross
The wandering albatross is known for its large wingspan. It can spread its wings over 11 feet!  There have been some sightings up to 17 feet.  They are normally seen as white, gray or black.  They mainly live off of fish and squid.

    They spend most of their life flying.  They can fly up to 10,000 miles without landing.  They weigh over 25 pounds!  Their lifespan typically lasts up to 60 years.  They can sometimes fly over 6,000 miles without flapping there wings.  They can fly 70 miles per hour.

  There are several threats to this bird.  Sometimes they see pieces of plastic and trash in the ocean and feed it to their young causing them to choke and die.  There are 20,100 wandering albatrosses left.  Their population is constantly decreasing.  They live in Australia, New Zealand, South America, and some other Antarctic islands.  The wandering albatross is one of the most amazing birds of all.
