Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon was George Washington's home.  If you want to see a virtual tour of the house Click Here.  Made in 1735, George Washington's farm house began at only one and a half stories.  Over time the house got much larger and is now three stories, not including the full sized basement.  The house has a total of 21 rooms.

The first level of the house includes Washington's study, parlors, and two dining rooms.   Before the large dining room was completed, George Washington considered the west parlor the finest part of the house.  It was a public room, where the family would have tea, play games, and do other activities.  The central passage is the main entry of the home.

George Washington made the outside look like stone, but it is actually made of wood.  George Washington had a total of 8,000 acres of land!

The attic included 3 bed chambers. The whole house had a total of 8 bed chambers.

     He also had a greenhouse.
