Pondering Mice
For school, I am going to write a short fable. I am going to edit the original story of Belling the Cat in my one words.
A very long time ago, in an
enormous house, there was a family of huge rats. The house was six stories high and each story
had more than seven very nice rooms. The
rats would spend most of their time on the third floor. During the night the whole family of rats
would go to the kitchen and quickly they would devour all the food.
The family always tried to stop them. They would put rat traps all over the house. So the rats ended up moving to the attic. They would stay there all day. The next night the rats took double the food! They couldn’t be stopped.
One day the family decided to get a cat to stop the rats. The next night when the rats went out and they got nothing to eat at all. As a matter of fact, they were eaten! “What would they do.” They all pondered.
Then the tiniest mouse
squeaked “We can put a bell around its neck so we can hear is when it comes.” “Great idea they all agreed.” Then the oldest and wisest rat asked “Who
will volunteer to tie the bell around his neck?” Nobody spoke another word.
